Best Donuts in Maryland
As a local, I’ve been to many different donut shops in Maryland, and below is a list of the top 18 donut spots to try some of the most mouth-watering donuts in the state.
1. Krumpe’s Do-Nuts Shop
This donut shop in Hagerstown, MD has been baking donuts for over 80 years, and they have indeed figured out how to make some of the most delicious donuts in Maryland.
Krumpe’s Do-Nuts shop is a family-run business that started in 1934. Today, they are one of the state’s highest-rated and delicious donut shops and serve a variety of classic flavors.
Some of their signature donuts include Glazed Do-Nuts, Cinamon Twists, Peanut Butter Iced Twists, and Bavarian Fills.

Sandy Pony Donuts started as a simple food truck and became a well-known small business in the area. The name Sandy Pony comes from their original location on Chincoteague Island and the Chincoteague Ponies.
Today, there are four locations of Sandy Pony Donuts, and they serve some delicious treats! Donuts are handmade for every order, making them hot and fresh each time.
Try one of the 24 specialty donuts like the Ms. Sandy donut, which is a delicious honey glaze and cinnamon donut.

3. Duck Donuts
Duck Donuts has two Maryland locations, one in Rockville and one in Nottingham. Duck Donuts is absolutely delicious, but the best part about this donut shop is that you can customize your donut. Choose from various flavors and toppings and create your perfect donut!
Not sure what flavor combination you’d like to create? No worries, because Duck Donut also has a variety of fan-favorite options of flavors like “Bacon in the Sun” and “Chocolate Strawberry.”
Donut prices are affordable and start at $1.95. As usual, I never know what flavors to get as they have so many and end up asking the staff for recommendations.
Another cool aspect of Duck Donut is that when you create your flavor you can add “Make a Wish Sprinkles” for only 50 cents, which goes to the Make a Wish Foundation.
Make a Wish is an incredible charity that grants a wish (like going to Disney World) to kids with terminal illnesses. It’s an awesome charity that supports kids in need.
I do wish they had donuts with fillings inside as opposed to just the flavors on top, but still one of the best doughnut shops in Maryland.

I highly recommend trying the cinnamon twist, glazed donut and apple fritters.

10. Mochi Mochi
Another great donut shop in Maryland. Their matcha, original glaze and ube-bae flavors are amazing plus the icing and toppings are not too sweet but still add to the overall unique texture.
Their donuts are so soft and chewy!

They are also more cake-like which is similar to what you get at duck donuts or pony donuts. The donuts are a bit on the smaller side so if you love them, you may want to order 1 or two more than you usually would.
There is also so much to do in Deep Creek Lake in winter, MD SO If you’re ever in the area, be sure to make this place one of your stops.
14. Donut connection
They have locations in Waldorf, MD and La Plata, MD. The shop is quite small but also big enough to dine in if needed. Donut connection has a lot of varieties to choose from and the staff is always kind and ready to give suggestions if you get stuck.
A few to try are the chocolate and glazed donuts with sprinkles, and the donut holes.

15. Chesapeake Doughnut Company
I love Chesapeake Doughnut Company, another great stop in Waldorf, MD. They also sell coffee drinks and sandwiches. They have a great selection of donuts and they are more of the fried cake like donuts.
A few I recommend trying are the Churro doughnut, Samoan delight, Chocolate sprinkles doughnut, Heath bar doughnut, Oreo doughnut, Old fashioned doughnut and Boston creme doughnut.
16. Arundel Donut
This donut shop is located in Glen Burnie, MD and is also a small shop but the customer service is amazing.
It is a cash only spot which is a but annoying but not a deal breaker.
Arundel donut has a ton of great flavors, my favorites are housemade marshmallow, cinnamon bun, apple fritter, Boston cream. The donuts are also very affordable plus they have other baked goods like muffins, turnovers, and croissants.
17. Carlson’s Donut
Now Carlson’s donut has got to be one of my favorite donut shops in Maryland. Its a small donuts shop located in Severn, MD and they sell out in a few hours as they are only open in the mornings.
They do not open on Mondays and take only cash so go prepared. Some of their popular flavors are Potato, Apple fritters, and glazed doughnuts.
The doughnuts are soft, and seem so simple but are far from that. These are some of the softest and best doughnuts I have ever had.

Again my only issue is that they take cash only.
18. Home Runs Donut
Located in Hagerstown, MD, Home Runs Donut is one of the best doughnut shops in Maryland. The donuts are very fluffy, big and full of flavor.
The costs are a bit pricey but quite big so that makes up for it plus the excellent customer service from the staff. Plan properly because their lines get long.
