Your First Disney World Trip With Kids

01 Cover

A practical, step-by-step planning guide to help you plan an unforgettable Disney World vacation without the overwhelm.

Planning a Disney World vacation with kids is exciting… until you realize just how much there is to figure out!

Where should you stay? How many days do you need? Which rides should you prioritize? Is Lightning Lane worth it? And how do you make sure everyone has a great time without exhausting the entire family?

I’ve been there!

When we planned our first Disney World vacation, I spent months researching, comparing options, and putting together itineraries for our family of six, including three kids and Grandma.

We spent eight nights in Orlando, visited all four Disney World theme parks and Blizzard Beach, and had an amazing time!

But here’s the thing: Not everything went according to plan. And some of our best decisions were the ones we made along the way.

That’s why I created the Deyewa Family Disney Planning Guide.

It’s everything I learned from planning and experiencing our first Disney World vacation, organized into a practical resource to help you plan yours.

What’s Inside the Guide?

This isn’t just a list of Disney rides or generic travel tips. It’s a step-by-step planning resource filled with our real experiences, lessons learned, and tools you can use to plan your own vacation.

1. Plan Your Trip From Start to Finish

Learn how to approach the biggest planning decisions, including:

  • Choosing when to visit and how long to stay
  • Deciding which parks to visit
  • Comparing hotels and transportation options
  • Setting a realistic vacation budget
  • Planning rest days so your family doesn’t burn out
  • Deciding whether Lightning Lane makes sense for your family

2. Sample Itineraries for All 4 Disney World Parks

Get a look at how we planned our visits to:

  • Magic Kingdom
  • Hollywood Studios
  • EPCOT
  • Animal Kingdom

For each park, I share our original plans, what we actually accomplished, and what we learned.

You’ll see the attractions we prioritized, how we adjusted when things changed, and what I’d do differently next time.

These aren’t rigid schedules you have to follow. They’re real examples to help you build an itinerary that works for your family.

3. Practical Tips for Visiting Disney With Kids

Traveling with kids of different ages comes with its own challenges!

I share how we handled:

  • Thrill rides when not everyone wanted to participate
  • Splitting into smaller groups without anyone missing out on the fun
  • Long lines and unexpected ride closures
  • Stroller rentals and getting around the parks
  • Snacks, meals, packing, and weather
  • Balancing full park days with much-needed rest

4. How We Saved Money on Our Disney Vacation

Disney World isn’t cheap, but there are ways to make the trip more manageable.

I share how we used travel rewards to help cover our hotel, park tickets, and rental car, along with the extras we purchased and what I’d think twice about buying again.

5. Nine Printable Disney Planning Worksheets

One of my favorite parts of this guide!

You’ll get worksheets to help you organize:

  1. Your trip at a glance
  2. Your pre-trip planning timeline
  3. Ride priorities for each park
  4. Hotel comparisons
  5. Your Disney vacation budget
  6. Daily park itineraries
  7. Split-group activities
  8. Your packing checklist
  9. Final trip notes and reflections

Print them out or use them digitally as you plan!

A Little Note From Me

Hi, I’m Lola! I’m a mom of three and the creator behind Deyewa, where I share family adventures, travel experiences, and places worth exploring.

Our first Disney World vacation was one of my favorite family trips. I loved planning it, but I loved seeing my kids experience it even more.

And if there’s one thing the trip taught me, it’s that you don’t have to do everything to have an incredible time.

My hope is that this guide helps you feel more prepared, spend less time stressing over the details, and focus on making memories with your family.

Ready to start planning your Disney adventure?

Happy planning!

With love,
Lola | Deyewa
