Kids Play Gallery: Fun indoor play area in Gaithersburg, Md
Kids play gallery is an indoor imaginative space that your kids would totally love located in Gaithersburg, Maryland. It offers so many opportunities for kids to use their imagination while also having fun.
Its set up to look like a little town with a restaurant, salon, gas station, fire station, grocery store and a road to drive through. My kids had such a blast.
I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Rowena and she was so pleasant and shared about the space and why they started it. She is really passionate about this space and wanted to create an imaginative space for kids that is also stress free for parents because we have all probably been to play places that had us running around crazy following our kids or making sure they do not get hurt.
I’ll share some of the pretend play environment things kids play gallery has to offer and why it’s one of my top indoor play areas for kids in Maryland.
What the Kids Play Gallery in Gaithersburg has to offer
There are many opportunities for creative exploration. When you first enter the play gallery, it’s like walking into a town, you can immediately see the road and various buildings representing different things. You immediately notice the small cozy coupe cars next to the service station.
Service station
Here, the cozy coupes can fill up their gas tanks, change or pump air into their tires, get oil change etc. There is even a front desk in the service station to pretend to be actual attendants lol
Ice cream truck
Next, you have the KPG ice-cream truck with all sorts of ice-cream flavors, shakes, cones and sundaes to order from.
Grocery market
You can then make your way to the Kids play gallery grocery market to grab some milk, produce, eggs, meat etc. to take home. This was definitely a hit because by the time my kids hit the grocery market, they each came running out with carts loaded with groceries.
Fire engine
There is a fire truck parked next to the pretend burning house and fire station. My son loved the fire truck probably the most and refused to let anyone come to it. It had a hose attached to it that kids are able to pull and pretend to put out the fire on the burning house.
Fire station and burning building
The burning house was a hit as well because you can put out the fire, climb up the stairs and also slide down using the built-in slide for a fast escape.
The fire station has firemen outfits which my son loved to try on while pulling the hose to put out the imaginary fire on the burning house.
Animal hospital
The animal hospital was one of my favorites. I know I’m not a kid but it was a well-equipped hospital. It had cages for several animals, an operation table with a pretend image of an operation taking place, a medical school certificate, a medicine cabinet with various medications, vitamins, creams, a sink, x-rays etc.
Beauty boutique
There is a nice beauty boutique set up to get your hair done, pick a style and color and a chair for those waiting.
Diner
This was another favorite for my 5 year old daughter. The diner has a nice seating area inside and another outside if you prefer outdoor seating. Its also stocked with cooking ingredients and my daughter constantly ran back and forth to the grocery market to get more ingredients to cater to her customers lol.
The diner menu is sort of like Five guys where you have burgers, fries, and shakes to choose from.
Fishing dock and boat
I really liked the set up of this area. They had the blue carpet to look like water and then some fishes with magnets in them so you can sit in the boat and go fishing, you can also wait on the dock.
Party room
There is a nice sized party room for private events.
Seating areas
One major reason I love this space is the layout and seating areas. It’s set up in a way that parents can sit and keep track of their kids no matter where they are. It’s the perfect size especially for younger kids to explore without parents having to get stressed out or chase them around.
I was able to keep an eye on my 3 kids while also chatting with Rowena, the owner and taking pictures.
Shopping
There is a little section at the front desk once you enter that contains a variety of toys and snacks to purchase for your little ones. My 2 year old daughter kept trying to grab one of the dolls on our way out lol.
Things to know before you go to the Kids Play Gallery
Location: Kids Play gallery is located in the Festival at Muddy Branch shopping center
at 217 Muddy branch road, Gaithesburg, MD 20878
Cost: On weekdays, it costs $15 for the first child and then $13 for siblings while on weekends its $17 for the first child and $15 for siblings.
Entry is free for 2 accompanying adults and $5 for each additional adult
Infants 10months and under are free with a paid sibling
There are options for Kids Play Gallery membership as well and parents love it because while I was there a parents came in saying they come there all the time.
Hours: 9:30am-3:30pm- walk in open play
After 3:30pm- private events
Socks: There is a socks policy and in case you do not come with one especially during summer, socks are available for purchase at the front desk.
Wifi: There is free wifi for guests which is great if you happen to come with your laptop to get some work done.
Food and drinks: Outside foods and drinks are allowed which is great especially with my 5 year old daughter being super picky. However, food can only be eaten in the party room and not in the play area. They also have a great selection of snacks available at the front desk and hot coffees, tea, juice etc for purchase.
Parking: Since its located in a shopping center, there is a ton of parking available and whats even better is Kids play gallery also has designated parking for their guests.
Overall, we had an amazing time at Kids Play Gallery plus although babies can’t do pretend play but they will have a blast crawling on the road.
