Why you must visit Climbzone to Climb new levels of fun!

Climbzone has been a recent hit for myself and my daughter. We have been there for a birthday party and then a few other times on our own. They have one location in Laurel. Maryland.

Once you step into Climbzone, sign the waiver and pay for your time there, you step over to the learning zone. Here, someone helps with the climbing harnesses and gives a quick tutorial on how to clip and unclip from the ropes attached to each climbing wall.

They also have a practice climbing wall for you to try out before you start. Although a ton of the customers are kids, there are also adults climbing the walls with their kids or even adults without kids that come for a fun climbing experience.

The training zone/ harnessing area can get a bit busy especially during birthdays where you have tons of kids in line waiting to be harnessed.

Creative walls

The walls are unique and are a huge part of what makes this place so worth it. They have about 75 climbing walls like the Abraham Lincoln Memorial, Tetris, Soccer, Mt Rushmore, or take a trek across a state map of the United States.

The walls have creative things to grab unto while you climb such as books, ropes, tires, blocks and more. Do not be fooled by some of the things to grab, they might look easy but trust me, they aren’t.

Employee help

One safety feature I love is the slow release rope system that allows the climbers to come down the wall slowly and safely without needing much help from others. The only thing my daughter needed help with was clipping and getting unclipped from the rope on the walls.

The employees also walk round to make sure no one is standing the red carpeted areas next to the walls because they are prone to getting hit by others climbing up or down. I found this helpful because sometimes there are several kids running all over the place especially when its one parent with like 3 kids.

Climbing difficulty

There are walls of varying difficulty to climb, so you or your kids could just move to the next wall if they find one too difficult or too easy to climb. Although despite the various levels, my daughter could not get through most of them, but was only able to get close to the top for about 3 of them.

She definitely has made a ton of progress from the first day she came to Climbzone. She initially struggled at age 4 and felt defeated but the great thing was they also have a few arcade games there so those kept her entertained. Now that she recently turned 6, it’s been great watching her climb up more or move on quickly to the next one without much help.

Birthdays

They have a special area for birthday celebrations. Your guests can climb for part of the party time and then make their way to the birthday area to celebrate with the celebrant.

I believe in the past, they used to have bounce houses for when kids need a climbing break, however since COVID, that has been stopped at the location I went to.
