If you want to take your kids on a day trip to a farm, our first suggestion would be Baugher’s Orchard in Westminster, Maryland.

It has many fun activities for the kids, plus amazing home-cooked meals! You can start by picking fresh fruits from the orchards, including strawberries, peaches, cherries, plums, apples, and pumpkins.

From there, you can head towards the petting zoo, where you’ll find several friendly farm animals like donkeys, lambs, goats, turkeys, chickens, rabbits, and pigs. You can pet and feed the animals; however, some more aggressive animals are placed behind fences. The petting zoo also has 2 playgrounds and a gazebo to make it even more enjoyable for everyone.

Another great kid friendly farm in Maryland is Butler’s Orchard. This farm includes a variety of farm animals like baby goats, baby lamb, baby chicks, sheep etc. Your kids would also enjoy the tractor rides, giant slides, playground and more. The playground is really big with about 3 huge slides on it and then next to it is a tractor slide for kids to climb into and slide down the tractor.

Butler’s Orchard is located in Germantown, Maryland, and opens in March. This farm is 5-acres and is full of fun things to do. During August, you can also enjoy walking through a sunflower patch and taking pictures with your family. Kids can pick strawberries, apples, pumpkins and more here.

This farm also has a farmers market to buy baked goods, fruits, drink and more. We have been here several times for strawberry picking, pumpkin picking etc.

8. Clark’s Elioak Farm

This farm stands out from the rest because it has a magical experience in store for the kids, a visit to the Enchanted Fairy Forest! The forest is the highlight of the farm as it has everything to make your kids squeal with excitement.

This includes Cinderella, Prince Charming, Cinderella’s pumpkin coach complete with the 6 mice that pulled it, Mother Goose and her goslings, Papa Bear from Goldilocks, bell-shaped flowers, giant lollipops, Gingerbread Men, Jack’s beanstalk with a giant on top, the Old Woman’s Shoe, and Rapunzel among other attractions.

There are also several rides in the forest like Cow Train, pony rides, Enchanted Express Train, and wagon rides. Clark’s Elioak farm is another one of our favorite farms in Maryland due to all the things it offers to kids.

A little distance from the Fairy Forest is the petting farm where you can feed the pigs, sheep, donkeys, turkeys, chickens, emus, goats, horses, ducks, cows, and rabbits. Isn’t that some variety?

9. KinderFarm Park

Kinder Farm park is hands down one of the best farms in MD. We have gone a couple of times and its always fun for us all.

It has lots of farm animals to explore and the family that owns it care deeply for the animals! There is a sports fields, a working farm, a blacksmith shop, a historical site, baby animals, disk golf, and even hiking trails. We saw animals like rabbits, cows, goats, birds, pigs and a lot more.

The park has a great playground with a slide section that looks like a tractor. There was also a merry go round, two big slides, swings, big kids climbing ropes area etc. There was even a snowballs truck there when we went.

This is a beautiful little farm in Watkins Regional park, MD! It is great to walk around and see the farm animals. You can see animals like Rabbits, chickens, peacocks, pigs, sheep, goats, etc. They also have hayrides and pumpkin patches.

It’s right next to the carousel, train station, and the Land of Oz playground.
